This unit addressed the various roles that teachers play in the classroom. In addition, it discussed the characteristics that make both good instructors and good students, as well as the variety of levels in which students may be categorized, and the various things which may motivate them to study English. One thing I learned was that, in order to give the best lesson possible, it's important that a teacher understand what each role entails. As the text points out, teachers will often play various roles during the course of one lesson. Some role are more appropriate for some activities than others. It's important for a teacher to understand what he or she needs to be doing during any given stage of the lesson plan to maximize students' learning.
