In Unit 1 I learned, the characteristics that describe a good teacher and student. I also was introduced the six English language proficiency levels and the characteristics of the students in each of those levels including their different motivating factors. In my opinion, one of the greatest down falls of Esl teachers is trying to talk too much. Students can not learn if the student has no practice. As a teacher I think, the students should be doing 50% or more of the talking. The teachers need to manage in order to have classroom management, give a strong model of expectations, then step back and be more of facilitator, prompter, or monitor. Finally, the teacher wraps up the lesson acting as the assessor to determine the mastery of the lesson.
