Vocabulary is very important to the students. How easy or difficult a vocabulary item is will depend onm some factors, such as similarity to L1, similarity to the words already known, spelling and pronunciation, appropriacy. During the Engage phase the teacher can use actions, pictures and discussion. During the Study phase gap-fill exercises, word searches, matching, dialogs and drilling can be used. The Activate stage can include role-plays, story building, debate and simulation can be used. The new language structures are determined by the level of the class and the course syllabus. Students should know the meaning, usage, forms and patterns of the language. Language functions include areas such as rufusing, inviting, suggesting and disagreeing.
