This unit deals with conditinals and reported speech. It has two clause, that is, the if clause and the main clause and either can come in the first part of a conditional sentence, for example; If I had the money, I would buy a new car I would buy a new car if I had the money The five main conditionalsare; - Zero conditionals - if/when+ present tense, present - First conditional - if + present simple, will - Second conditional - if + past simple, would/could/might + base form - Third conditional - if + past perfect,would/could/might + have + past participle - Mixed conditional - if + past perfect, would + base form Teaching ideas - Split sentences - Complete the condition - Chain conditionals - What a question - Nuclear bunker role play Reported and Direct speech When reporting a speech tense changes depending on the time the speech is being reported.
