Unit Six was exciting and inspiring. It presented and discussed considerations that an aspiring ESL teacher would consider when contemplating where to teach, what to expect when they arrive and some very logical basics about what research to do and how to behave when one arrives in a new country/job. Business Etiquette varies in very specific ways depending on the country, but the basics stand true. In addition, the unit provided web tools for researching specific countries. The unit also presented ways of seeking, applying for and maintaining employment (growing as a new teacher) in this case via professional development. The interview expectations (what they ask you about qualifications, skills, classroom expectations ? how to respond, what to say and how to find information and prepare) as well as work/Employment negotiation questions were also presented. I was not aware of the wide range of examinations that an ESL teacher and a business English student are working towards and found that section very helpful. The most helpful tool/information for me was the sample CV and discussion over what to say and how to say it via this key document. The material reviewed how to begin the search, initiate contact and how to work out a cover letter. All tools that are absolutely critical to presenting a professional face as a student teacher.
