The lesson gives examples of materials and text books and compares them with each other. There are 2 different kinds of material - authentic and created. Authentic material is something real and thus more interesting for the students like articles, videos, recordings, songs, poems and more. Created material is something created by teacher or teachers like crosswords, role-play exercises, gap fill activities and more. When talking about course books there is a lot of controversy about the topic. Usually a teacher will decide on his own after a research. There are many books for language learners and some of them are very interesting and interacting but there are many more that are the exact opposite. Even if selecting a perfect text book for the students, a teacher needs to remember that he doesn't need to follow the book 100%. There will be lessons that are laid out perfectly but there will be lessons that are lacking either exercises, vocabulary or grammar. It is the teachers job to prepare adequately, bring in extra lessons and self made materials and more. Bringing interesting activities is also important to the lesson. Sometimes a dry lesson will make the students bored and reluctant to interacting with the language. For that reason a teacher should be prepared with games, activities and other methods to gram back the students attention.
