Syllabus desing: there are different theories that show how it would be designed: -structural syllabus (based on grammar complexity) -functional-notional syllabus (based on communicative purposes) -learner-led syllabus (students have input to the design) -situational syllabus (based on situational needs) Assessment of students: -diagnostic: assess the students' knowledge and skills due to past experiencies -placement: it groups students by their current ability -aptitude: it predicts students' probable future performance on a course -achievement: it assesses students' learning of a known body of work -proficiency: it assesses the students' current knowledge -progress: it assesses students' progress in learning specific areas taught in the class Course evaluation it is useful to: -evaluate material and suggest improvements -ask students' feedback on the teacher's teaching
