Teach English in Lutong Zhen - Baise Shi — Bose
For Unit 7, labeled as Teaching new language, you cover learning about What and How to teach three types of language: Vocabulary, Grammar, and Language Functions. Deceptively simple-looking, each section has an in-depth look at the most important difficulties a student (and teacher) may have with learning each new section, as well as examples of methods that can be used to teach. For example, in the Teaching Vocabulary section, a short overview of what makes (specifically) learning vocabulary difficult for a student when encountering new words, what a teacher should depend upon when selecting the appropriate vocabulary for the student level/lesson, what a student will need to know about the vocabulary they are learning, and an example lesson is given to show how a teacher can go about eliciting the proper responses and conducting a productive lesson. From this unit, I have gained a clearer idea on how to structure a lesson plan, as well as what to look for in creating plans around what I am teaching, whether it be vocabulary, grammar. or functions. I feel that this lesson is very helpful in giving a better idea of how a typical lesson plan can be formulated. In this sense, I feel that not only do you gain the knowledge of having techniques for teaching vocab, grammar and functions, but also gain the knowledge of how to put together a complete lesson plan.
