At the current stage of my teaching career I do not teach groups that are made up entirely of beginners or children. There are times when intrepid beginners at my language center (driven mostly by curiosity, high self-esteem and a sense of adventure) march into my intermediate and even upper-intermediate classes, but the attendant difficulties of such adventurous and self-challenging learning experiments are generally offset by the students? interaction with their more fluent peers and by the adaptive component of the lessons. Nonetheless, I found this 19th unit of the course to be a treasure trove of information for when I am required to teach special groups, on the one hand, and on the other, a true wealth of indispensable instructions for my current role as a private tutor who teaches kids and adult business professionals. Some of the tips given, like preparing extra material for individual lessons and assigning articles as reading homework, served as affirmation for existing elements of my program, while the greater bulk of the information provided comprised a concise, useful and relevant guideline for excellence in these areas. Teaching business English to clients in their working habitat is a step that I am currently seriously considering, and this unit has undoubtedly given me a great deal that I can take to the next phase of my consideration.
