This unit introduces the future tenses used in the English language. For English learners these tenses might be confusing with other tenses. For example, the future simple can be confused with the \"going to\" future tense. English teachers must be careful to teach the differences and be able to help the student to differentiate the similarities. There are seven tenses presented in this module. There are four future tenses that are most commonly used in the English language. I will enumerate on those four. The first tense is the future simple tense. It is formed with will/shall + the infinitive. It is commonly used to state future facts and make promises/threats. Secondly, there's the future continuous tense. It is formed with the subject + will + be + verb +ing. It is used for an action already in progress at a particular time in the future. Thirdly, the future perfect tense is used to describe an action completed before a future time. It is formed with will + have + past participle. Lastly, the future perfect continuous is formed with will + have + been + verb + ing. It describes an action that will continue up to a point in the future with reference to duration. As with all tenses, teachers must have the ability to teach the forms, and usages effectively. This unit listed many teaching ideas that will aid teachers to present tenses to English learners.
