In this unit we have examined the main language learning theories: grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, PPP, task based learning, communicative language learning, the silent way, suggests paediatric, the lexical approach. Then we have looked at methodology, particularly ESA and identified the differences between a straight arrow approach, boomerang approach and patchwork approach. We have examined each stage in detail and covered various games and activities or tasks that are suitable for each stage. Finally we have looked at feedback and correction, when best to correct and how to offer constructive, positive feedback.
