Unit 8 covered the many tenses of the future. One of the common differences were how future/present simple/continuous tenses had a tendency to be prediction based, or stated like a fact; and future perfect uses more detail by comparing what will be done relative to another event or time. I think the applicability lies in needing to say just what you will do at a given time in the future, like \"I will go/I am going to school, the store,etc.\" or describing a plan, \"before eating dinner, I will have studied for 2 hours\". I believe that the large amount of tenses lends itself to being able to express oneself more accurately.
