I learned more about the productive skills for teaching English, reading and writing. They are just as important as the receptive skills; however, they seem to not be used nearly as much in the schools that I have taught in. Now I'm going to make sure they get an equal amount of class time based around each of the skills. I do know how important it is to know all equally. I had one student who could read and write, but his speaking and listening skills were very bad. I am going to talk to my boss about this now and make sure the kids are getting the best curriculum as far as receptive and productive skills are concerned.
