Unit 7 dealt with different criteria for selecting lesson material and guidelines for teaching new language (vocabulary, grammar structures, and functions). As with previous units, this unit put into words a lot of concepts that are normally taken for granted, including what students need to know about a vocabulary word or grammar structure, and also presented useful suggestions for approaches during each of the ESA phases. Also useful were the sample lesson plans, putting the suggested activities into a cohesive process. Writing my own sample lesson plans in the task sheet was especially challenging and thought-provoking.
