Over the course of this unit I learned a good deal about classroom management and how vital it can be to a teacher's effectiveness as well as the overall morale of the class. I was particularly impressed as to just how vital it is to manage the formation of groups or pairings in order to ensure that the students are comfortable and learning effectively. To put it another way, I learned that I need to pay particular attention the personality and dynamics of any given group or pair. If, for instance, I continually pair a group of students on significantly different levels of ability, it may be beneficial for the weaker of the two but perhaps somewhat inefficient for the higher of the two so I should therefore occasionally mix the groups to ensure that the capabilities of the students are distributed evenly. Furthermore, I also learned from this unit how careful and particular I should be while presenting and providing instructions. It is particularly important for instance, to try to use the same words and phrases while providing instructions to ensure that my students will help understand directions easier.
