There are seven most common future tenses. Future simple is used for future facts and certainties, promises, predictions, assumptions, spontaneous decisions and threats. It can be taught with games such as 'going on a holiday' and \"winning the lottery\". Future continuous is used to say that something will be in progress at a particular future time, to predict the present, for polite enquiries, and to refer to future fixed events. They can be taught using diary/date activities and illustrative situations. Future perfect is used when something \"will have\" been done by a future time. This can be taught using activites like 'fill in the dates' and historical story telling. Future perfect continuous is used when we want to say how long something will have continued by a certain time. We can teach this with asking questions like \"how long will you have been...\". 'Going to' future is used for intentions, plans and predictions, which can be taught using activities like making holiday plans, or a 'going to' game. Present simple and present continuous are also used as present tenses but with future applications.
