This unit covered effective and ineffective teaching in a video lesson. First, a video with an ineffective lesson was introduced . Throughout the lesson the teacher did not demonstrate examples of what he was looking for, he did not interact with the students well, he did not encourage the students when they answered the question right, and he did not monitor the students well. The lesson was ineffective because although the students did learn, they were frustrated and intimidated. Second, a video with an effective lesson was introduced. The teacher was happy, energetic, demonstrative, and encouraged the class. The students in response were verbally interactive with the teacher, and seemed to grasp the entire concept of the class. I have learned that a teachers attitude can determine the outcome of student involvement. I have also learned that you have to be creative in finding areas that both you and the student relate too. For example, the teacher had the students come up with animals that they are familiar with and then added some more animals after making sure that the students understood what they were.
