Unit 17 really opened my eyes up to the plethora of resources that teachers have at their disposal. As of lately, I have been trying to differentiate the types of materials I use in my teaching. I have always depended on resource texts and websites, as well as creating my own material for English training, but I feel I am cheating the students if I don't offer them new learning experiences. I think the internet is probably the greatest unused resource for teaching of all kinds, and I have been introducing many interactive and listening activities to my students. These new avenues are proving extremely helpful for my students and also, challenging me to break my habits and incorporate new styles of teaching. I think cassettes and CDs are probably out of step with modern teaching methods, but mp3s and streaming services have proved to be much more accessible. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to learn on an interactive white board, however, I look forward to incorporating this technology as well. I think the chief reason for bringing technology into the classroom is that it holds students' interest.
