This unit, managing classes was about the teacher and students roles in the classroom their relationship they should have. It is very important for the teacher to show they are in control of the class without over dominating. It is important for the teacher to have a good rapport with all the students and try to know everyone's names and bit about the students especially in smaller classers. A good way to get to know everyone is at the beginning of the course to set up some ice breaker activities. Another importance during a lesson is the student talk time which can be done by lots of pair or group activities. Asking the students to answer questions when they can. However it is important for the students to hear the teacher (a native English speaker) talking for that may be the only real interaction the students have with native English speakers. Maintaining discipline is another role the teacher needs to manage in the classroom. If the teacher is punctual, clear when speaking, comes to class prepared, varies lessons to make them more interesting then this should reduce chances of the students misbehaving.
