To be an effective teacher you have to have good classroom management skills that create an environment for learning. Be punctual and have class materials prepared. Introduce yourself and ask students their names and address them as such to form a friendly personal connection. The physical demeanor of your voice, gestures, eye contact and posture should show them that you're confident and excited to teach them. Seating arrangements will depend on your lesson plan, room size and the number of students. You could use orderly rows or horse-shoe seating for whole class activities; small groups or pairs where you'll have student to student talk and less teacher talk time. To encourage students' interactions so they use and discover English more teacher talk time should be minimal. Keep it simple and don't over-elaborate; use pictures or mime; limit your time writing on the board by calling on a student to do it. Include all students equally in activities but some may need a little more attention if they're not grasping the lesson. If a behavior problem arises address it immediately and calmly to maintain discipline.
