Unit 18 covered the grammatical basics of modals, phrasal verbs, and passive vs active voice. While all of these can be somewhat complex they can be taught. Using them naturally in the classroom and tracking which specific sets of each have been covered by the texts or class materials and then using those in a natural way will help the students familiarize themselves with the content and give a deeper understanding of their use in context.Once the students are more comfortable they can start to use them on their own. Teaching by topic can also be very useful as it associates certain contexts and situations for various points. One good topic for phrasal verbs could be traveling where we can use drop off, pick up, take off, sit down, stow away, buckle up, check in, line up and so on. With modals, the use of each has a large impact on the strength of the sentence as well as the certainty of the statement being made. Lastly the passive and voice deal with transitive and intransitive verbs but one of the main points is not just on using the appropriate verb conjugation but on the action and that receiving the action.
