This unit provided a very good illustration between good and bad teaching techniques. The first video was almost laughable, the teacher was so horrible. (Sadly, I took a semester of Spanish recently and my class looked like the one in the first video.) The teacher neither connected with, engaged with, nor inspired the class. If anything, they were even more confused by his quick presentation and lack of sensitivity to their language ability level. The second video showed what a good class should look like. There was plenty of engagement and interest from the students, and the teacher looked genuinely happy to be there. There was continual student participation in the second video, whereas in the first, the teacher had to strongly elicit even the smallest amount of participation; the teacher's attitude, clearly, was the catalyst for success and lack thereof in these videos. NOTE: the sound in the videos is of poor quality; students responses, particularly in the first video, can barely be heard. I realize the content of their responses isn't what is most important, but it would make for a better video...
