This unit mainly talks about course books and lesson materials that has its advantages and disadvantages. Authentic materials are more about facing reality so students are more encouraged and motivated to lean English, though in general this only actually applies to higher levels. Created materials on the other hand is more user friendly to all levels done in a creative way for students to learn. Course books are helpful because there's progression, a record, less time consuming, proven and tested already and so on, though there are good sides of using course books, as teachers, we should adapt with our student's needs and be creative. We should not reply on course books alone, we also have to do our own research and task on how to make the lesson more enjoyable and more balanced with student's understanding needs by replacing, supplementing and such while using the course book. We should also be aware of the factors what course book to choose, such as price, availability and design and so on... In general, course books are great! but always remember, be aware of your student's needs, don't be too dependent on it.
