Unit 6 we dove into the past tense. Unit 6 contained an overview of the four different aspects of the past tense which are past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. As with the present tense it broke down the basic sentence structure for each aspect in an affirmative, negative and questioning sentence form. Then we looked at the usage of each. For example the past simple is used for completed actions while slightly more complex the past perfect is used in sentences where a past action or event is affecting the present. Some major hints given in this unit to help students and teachers identify o r know when to use the past or present is with the verb 'to be' and 'have'had'. When 'to be' is conjugates in the past or present it indicates whether the sentence is past perfect or present perfect. Same with 'have/had' when they are conjugated they indicate whether the sentence is past or present respectively. One of the most challenging thing for students and verb tenses is once again their conjugations are English has so many irregular verbs such as see and saw, take and took, and put and put.
