Teach English in Baishiyan XiAng - Anshun Shi
In this unit I learned of the different types of Modal Verbs, Phrasal Verbs, and the constructions of passive voice in the English Language. For modal verbs, I learned of the varying degrees they have which range from certainty, to obligation, ability, etc. Modal verbs greatly aid in creating formality, thus it is important for students to learnt this type of verb. The types of voice in English were also being used, both Active and Passive. Active involves focus on an agent, while Passive involves focus on the object of an active verb, and that becoming the subject of a sentence. Passives are used with regards to the action and not knowing, not wanting to say, or its not important who did it. Relative clauses, which are broken in to three different categories of independent, dependent, or relative are discussed. Those can be further broken down in to defining or non-defining. Lastly, phrasal verbs are discussed which are multi-word verbs consisting of a particle and lexical verb. These are important to understand that the meaning of the verb with and without the particle change drastically depending on such conditions.
