Not to mention, that an individual with a teaching degree, might not know anything about teaching EFL, and individual with an english degree, might know a lot about english, but not an effective way to teach it, and someone with a linguistics degree might know a lot about the development of language and the etymology of words, but might have no clue how to teach english. All of these people could give themselves a significant edge on teaching and could make their lessons much more effective for themselves and their students. Last, it is important to take a look at individuals who, at any degree level, are teaching EFL in their own country, to foreign immigrants. This group can also benefit greatly from an EFL course. Generally these people are already trained and might have experience with EFL, but taking a new course will help them get new ideas and be brought up to date with new methods. These new ideas could be used with their students who can leave class on a daily basis and try them out in the real world on english speaking people. This can not only help to make the classes more rewarding for both teacher and students, but it can also give the teacher a venue for immediate feedback on whether or not taking a TEFL course made a difference for them and can help to dictate whether or not they will in the future.
