Yes, gender does matter. Gender matters a lot when it comes to teaching or learning procedures. Women stand out in both teaching and learning process. In each role she is teaching something or the other. For example: A baby girl can become a niece, a sister, a sister can become a cousin, girl friend or lover or best friend, a girl friend can become a wife, a wife can become a sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, and/or mother, a mother can become a mother-in-law, a mother-in-law can become a grand mother, a grand mother can become a great grand mother etc. This chain goes on and on. Similarly, the teacher has to assume many roles at the same time/simultaneously depending on the class or course needs or requirements. A role model teacher should have the following characteristics: A role model teacher should be A role model teacher should not be T - Tolerating and Tutoring Tormenting or Torturing E - Entertaining and Engaging Excruciating or Embarrassing A - Advising and Adoring Annoying or Appalling C - Caring and Counseling Criticizing or Condescending H - Helping and Humane Hurting or Harassing E - Encouraging and Evaluating Exhausting or Evading R - Regulating and Rejuvenating Revolting or Refuting. In my opinion, the women teachers are role models who have more responsibility than the parents as the students spend longer valuable time in schools rather than their home. Most of the parents delegate their responsibilities to the teachers and assume that teachers can replace them like a mother with respect to their children?s educational process and personality.
